Safa Farzin, MD
Senior Vice President, Penn State Health Medical GroupAs senior vice president, Dr. Safa Farzin leads the Penn State Health Medical Group Community Practice Division. His priorities include ensuring providers have the tools they need to provide the highest-quality patient care and supporting a seamless continuum of care from outpatient to inpatient settings across the health system.
Farzin joined Penn State Health in 2019 as vice president for medical affairs and staff development at Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center. In addition to developing the new hospital’s leadership team and clinical services, he was instrumental in collaborating with community physicians in the greater Harrisburg region who will use Hampden Medical Center to care for their patients.
Prior to joining the health system, Farzin served as chief executive officer for the Medical Group of Pennsylvania, the largest independent physician association in central Pennsylvania; vice president of Pulmonary Critical Care Medical Associates, which is now a member of Penn State Health; and director of critical care medicine at UPMC Pinnacle Health.
Board-certified in critical care medicine, Farzin earned his medical degree from St. Georges University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. He then completed an internal medicine residency at UPMC Pinnacle Health System in Harrisburg and a fellowship in critical care medicine at The Miriam Hospital, Providence, R.I.

Jeanette Gibbs, MS
Senior Vice President for Ambulatory Services, Penn State Health Medical GroupAs senior vice president for ambulatory services, Jeanette Gibbs oversees Penn State Health Medical Group’s administrative functions, including staffing, performance, patient experience, quality and safety. Gibbs joined Penn State Health Medical Group in 2018 as vice president for community practice.
She began her career at University of Maryland School of Medicine as division administrator for five clinical divisions and one research center in the Department of Pediatrics. Gibbs then served as assistant administrator for finance and research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Neurology and Neurosurgery departments. She was subsequently recruited to Howard University to lead its Faculty Practice Plan. She was promoted to associate vice president of administration and operations, where she oversaw the four Health Sciences colleges and developed operational and administrative efficiencies that provided improved financial outcomes. She later became chief operating officer and chief financial officer for the University of Maryland Community Medical Group.
Gibbs is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Health Care Administrators Association and the National Association of Health Services Executives.
She earned a Master of Science in health care administration from the University of Maryland, University College, and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
